Calexico proved they can win big on Friday (they won by seven) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over the Escondido Cougars. For the Bulldogs, this counts as revenge for the 4-3 win the Cougars walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Calexico got a great performance from Antonio Gonzalez as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and only one walk). Gonzalez has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ander Garcia was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Randy Baez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Calexico is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-4-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Escondido, their defeat dropped their record down to 22-9.

As of now, neither Calexico nor the Cougars have any future games scheduled.
