Baseball Recap: Madison County Find Success

On Friday, the Madison County Cowboys sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Christ's Church Academy Eagles.

Mar'Kevian Stephens tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has become a key player for Madison County: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 0-3 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Will Latner, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Alden Richie also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Madison County's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Christ's Church Academy, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Madison County wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, an 8-0 defeat against St. John Paul II on the 3rd. As for Christ's Church Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 15-0 win against Crescent City on the 4th.
