Baseball Game Preview: Marquette Mustangs vs. Rockwood Summit Falcons

The Marquette Mustangs will venture away from home to challenge the Rockwood Summit Falcons at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Marquette's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Rockwood Summit's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Marquette's offense. They fell just short of Oakville by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday. The game marked the first time this season in which the Mustangs were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Rockwood Summit sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over Webster Groves on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Falcons.

Rockwood Summit's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Marquette, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-3.

Marquette couldn't quite finish off Rockwood Summit when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
