Necedah is 2-8 against Hillsboro since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Cardinals will be playing at home against the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Necedah will bounce into Monday's game after beating Cashton, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Cardinals blew past the Eagles 12-5 on Thursday. The Cardinals' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Addisyn Schumer made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

At the plate, Elizabeth Cairns was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Michelle Hora, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Hillsboro's win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Necedah, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
Necedah suffered a grim 16-5 defeat to Hillsboro when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Cardinals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
