Baseball Recap: Mesa Ridge Takes a Loss

Doherty hit Mesa Ridge with a nine-run sixth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Grizzlies took a 17-12 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spartans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Grizzlies of the 16-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2025.

Mesa Ridge saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Thomas, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another was Brandon Bittner, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs.

This is the second loss in a row for Mesa Ridge and nudges their season record down to 1-2. As for Doherty, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Coming up, Mesa Ridge will host Colorado Springs Christian at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Doherty, they will head out to face off against Air Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
