Baseball Recap: Mesa Ridge Comes Up Short

Doherty hit Mesa Ridge with a nine-run sixth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Grizzlies fell 17-12 to the Spartans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Grizzlies of the 16-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2025.

Mesa Ridge saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Thomas, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Brandon Bittner was another, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs.

Mesa Ridge now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Doherty, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Mesa Ridge has already played their next contest, a 21-0 victory against Colorado Springs Christian on the 17th. As for Doherty, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 8-6 defeat against Air Academy on the 17th.
