Basketball Game Preview: Kalida Wildcats vs. Continental Pirates

Kalida has gone a perfect 10-0 against Continental recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Kalida Wildcats will host the Continental Pirates at 12:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Kalida has eight straight wins, Continental has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Kalida is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Leipsic: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Kalida blew Leipsic out of the water with a 59-24 final score. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 21 points or more this season.

Among those leading the charge was Allie Kuhlman, who made all 6 shots she took racking up 15 points and four steals. Thanks to that strong game, she now owns an excellent 45.6% field goal percentage. Another player making a difference was Madison Unverferth, who posted seven points and three steals.

Kalida smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Continental had to suffer through a 64-13 loss at the hands of Miller City. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 695th, while the Wildcats are ranked 181st).

Continental's loss dropped their record down to 2-19. As for Kalida, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-6.

Everything came up roses for Kalida against Continental in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as the squad secured a 59-13 win. Does Kalida have another victory up their sleeve, or will Continental turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
