Basketball Recap: Aiden Victor and Ricky Barton Secure Win for Afton

Afton got their first taste of in-conference action this week and they started things off strong. They enjoyed a cozy 56-42 win over the Commerce Tigers on Tuesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 67-56 back in December of 2024.

Afton was led to victory by Ricky Barton and Aiden Victor. Barton went 8 for 14 en route to 23 points and seven rebounds, while Victor went 7 of 15 on his way to 21 points and seven boards. That makes it six consecutive games in which Victor has scored at least a third of Afton's points. Blake Ford was another key player, putting up six points.

Afton is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.6 points per game. As for Commerce, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Afton has already played their next contest (against Oklahoma Union), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Commerce has also has no score uploaded for their next game, this one against Welch.
