Basketball Recap: South Pointe Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

South Pointe put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by the Denmark-Olar Vikings to the tune of 76-32. The Stallions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 44 points or more this season.

Leading South Pointe to victory were Serenity Woods and Kaleigh Lucas. Woods went 7 for 15 on her way to 19 points and three steals, while Lucas went 6 of 12 on her way to 17 points and six boards. That's the most rebounds Lucas has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of JaNyia Cunningham, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.

South Pointe pushed their record up to 8-0 with the win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.9 points per game. As for Denmark-Olar, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-1.

South Pointe will take on Dorman in a holiday battle at at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. South Pointe knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Dorman likes a good challenge. As for Denmark-Olar, they will take on Mauldin in a tournament on Saturday.
