Softball Recap: Edcouch-Elsa Takes a Loss

Edcouch-Elsa entered their matchup against Lopez on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Edcouch-Elsa Yellowjackets fell 9-5 to the Lopez Lobos. The Yellowjackets just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Melody Soto put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Soto was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI.

In other batting news, Christa Lopez was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Edcouch-Elsa suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 10-3. As for Lopez, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Coming up, Edcouch-Elsa will head out to face off against Donna at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Donna has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.54 runs per game on average), something Edcouch-Elsa will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lopez, they will be playing at home against Mercedes at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Mercedes will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Lopez surely won't give up without a fight.
