Volleyball Recap: Carroll Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Carroll came into Saturday's matchup having lost nine straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Lakota West Firebirds on Saturday. That's more bragging rights for the Patriots, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Carroll didn't let Lakota West take a single set, but it sure wasn't easy: every set was decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 27-25, 25-22.

Sam Brun paced Carroll's offense, picking up 12 kills. Brun got some help from Ian Lougeman and his 19 assists.

Carroll's victory bumped their record up to 5-12. As for Lakota West, they dropped their record down to 1-9 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Carroll will be playing at home against Archbishop McNicholas at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rockets will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Patriots surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lakota West, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Archbishop Moeller at 7:00 p.m. on May 6.
