Preview: Arvada West Wildcats vs. Lakewood Tigers
After four games on the road, Arvada West is heading back home. They will take on the Lakewood Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Wednesday, Arvada West escaped with a win against Bear Creek by the margin of a single free throw, 44-43. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Arvada West has scored all year.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Arvada West to victory, but perhaps none more so than Keegen Balistreri, who scored 11 points. James Hadzic was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with three steals.
Even though Lakewood has not done well against Chatfield recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Lakewood pulled ahead with a 68-67 photo finish over Chatfield. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Arvada West is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Lakewood, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-7.
Everything came up roses for Arvada West against Lakewood in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 65-34 victory. Does Arvada West have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lakewood turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
