Basketball Game Preview: Elevation Prep Academy Honey Badgers vs. Charlotte Elite Academy Soldiers

The Elevation Prep Academy Honey Badgers and the Charlotte Elite Academy Soldiers will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Elevation Prep Academy is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Rock Hill two weeks ago (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Elevation Prep Academy was dealt a 79-39 loss at the hands of Rock Hill. The Honey Badgers have struggled against the Bearcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was DIDIER ILUNGA, who posted six points and eight rebounds. DEMARCUS RICHARDSON was another key player, putting up nine points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Charlotte Elite Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were outmatched by Winston Salem Christian National and fell 70-27. While losing is never fun, the Soldiers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 244th, while the Lions are ranked 21st).

Elevation Prep Academy will have to contain Antoine Boone as he made an impact in Charlotte Elite Academy's last game. He put up six points.

Elevation Prep Academy now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Charlotte Elite Academy, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Elevation Prep Academy has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.3 boards per game. However, it's not like Charlotte Elite Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24.5 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
