Football Game Preview: Patrick Henry Patriots vs. Mira Mesa Marauders + How To Watch

The Patrick Henry Patriots will square off against the Mira Mesa Marauders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Patrick Henry will be strutting in after a victory while Mira Mesa will be coming in after a loss.

On Friday, everything came up roses for Patrick Henry against Crawford as the team secured a 41-6 win. That 35 point margin sets a new team best for the Patriots this season.

It was another big night for Calvin Glenn, who rushed for 160 yards and three scores while picking up 8.9 yards per carry, and also picked up 64 receiving yards and one touchdown. He is becoming a predictor of Patrick Henry's success: when he posts at least 80 rushing yards the team is 3-1 (and 1-4 when he doesn't). Madin Gardini was another key player, throwing for 256 yards and one TD while picking up 11.1 yards per attempt.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Patrick Henry proved: they limited Crawford to a paltry 1.3 yards per carry. The Patriots didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.6.

Meanwhile, Mira Mesa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 34-27 to Hoover.

Patrick Henry will need to focus on slowing down Nico Giusti, one of several Mira Mesa players who made an impact when they last played. He threw for 243 yards and three touchdowns. Mira Mesa's leading receiver Jovan Gorum was Giusti's top target yet again, picking up 119 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Patrick Henry has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.8 points over those games. As for Mira Mesa, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Patrick Henry took a serious blow against Mira Mesa in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, falling 49-20. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
