Softball Recap: Grand Prairie Comes Up Short

Grand Prairie was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the South Grand Prairie Warriors, falling 14-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Gophers of the 15-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Lylly Sanchez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Stella Benitez-Mendez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Grand Prairie's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for South Grand Prairie, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-8-1 record this season.

Grand Prairie will head out to take on Sam Houston at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Grand Prairie has given up an average of 9.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for South Grand Prairie, they will welcome Martin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Martin sitting on three straight wins and South Grand Prairie on five.
