Football Recap: Colonia Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Colonia had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. Everything went their way against the Cranford Cougars as they made off with a 40-15 victory. Considering the Patriots have won three contests by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Colonia's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dylan Chiera led the charge by throwing for 273 yards and four touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. That's the most passing touchdowns Chiera has posted since back in September of 2024. Kyle Bell was another key rusher, gaining 167 total yards and a touchdown.

Colonia's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Cranford, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Colonia will take on Old Bridge at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Knights' defense has only allowed 9.6 points per game this season, so the Patriots' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Cranford, they will square off against Hillside at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
