Basketball Game Preview: Greater Johnstown Trojans vs. Central Dragons

The Greater Johnstown Trojans will challenge the Central Dragons at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Greater Johnstown comes in on 14 and Central on four.

Greater Johnstown is returning to their home court after beating Westmont Hilltop on theirs, despite the fact Westmont Hilltop has dominated at home this season. Greater Johnstown came out on top against Westmont Hilltop by a score of 61-49 on Wednesday. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while the Hilltoppers are ranked 50th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Central was fully in charge on Wednesday, breezing past Philipsburg-Osceola 75-44. The Dragons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 25 points or more this season.

Greater Johnstown pushed their record up to 14-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.5 points per game. As for Central, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.

Greater Johnstown strolled past Central in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a score of 44-29. Does Greater Johnstown have another victory up their sleeve, or will Central turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
