Football Recap: Mullen Falls Short Against Ranked Valor Christian

Mullen faced Valor Christian in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Mustangs had to suffer through a 42-14 loss at the hands of the Eagles. The Mustangs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-7.

Mullen lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Mason Bonner, who picked up 119 receiving yards and one touchdown. He didn't just play on offense: he also picked up a sack and made one tackle.

Valor Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Titus Huard, who threw for 201 yards and a pair of TDs on perfect 6-for-6 passing. What's more, Huard racked up 177.1 passer rating, the most he's had since back in October of 2024. Dawson Olk was in the mix as well, providing Valor Christian with two scores.

This is the second loss in a row for Mullen and nudges their season record down to 1-3. As for Valor Christian, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Looking ahead, Mullen will host Regis Jesuit at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last. As for Valor Christian, they are taking a road trip to challenge Ralston Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
