Basketball Recap: Ames Continues Road Dominance on Friday

Ames waltzed into their game on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They blew past the Des Moines East Scarlets, posting a 60-20 win. Given the Little Cyclones' advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while the Scarlets are ranked 294th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ames' victory was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.1 points over those games. As for Des Moines East, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ames will challenge Ottumwa at 7:45 p.m. on February 14th. As for Des Moines East, they will square off against Mason City at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
