Preview: Antonito Trojans vs. Primero Bulldogs

Antonito is 0-10 against Primero since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Antonito Trojans will look to defend their home court against the Primero Bulldogs at 2:30 p.m. Hopefully Antonito focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Saturday.

Antonito struggled with offensive rebounds on Saturday (Creede had 15 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Antonito took a 59-43 bruising from Creede.

Jasiah Jiron put forth a good effort for the losing side as he shot 4-for-6 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 26 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesus Madril, who scored four points along with five rebounds.

Antonito struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Primero entered their tilt with Manzanola with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Primero simply couldn't be stopped on Wednesday as they easily beat Manzanola 62-26 at home. That looming 62-26 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Primero yet this season.

Mathew Pachorek was his usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with five rebounds and five blocks. It was the first time this season that he posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Brett Kendal, who scored 14 points.

Antonito's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Primero, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-8.

Antonito might still be hurting after the 63-43 defeat they got from Primero in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Antonito avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
