The Innovation Bulls will head out to challenge the Edgewater Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Innovation sitting on three straight victories and Edgewater on four.
Innovation had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Jones on Friday. Innovation put the hurt on Jones with a sharp 14-4 win. With that victory, the Bulls brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.
Hunter Lopez looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Kevin Hernandez was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Alan Guerrero also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Innovation always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jones only posted an OBP of .235.
Meanwhile, everything went Edgewater's way against Lake Buena Vista on Friday as Edgewater made off with an 11-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won five matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Jayden Benfer made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two).
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Yusef Charles, who scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has become a key player for Edgewater: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-5 otherwise. Bryson Nicol was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.
Innovation's record now sits at 4-1. As for Edgewater, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Innovation has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Edgewater struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
