Volleyball Recap: Benton Takes a Loss

Benton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cassville Comets. The Zephyrs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Comets earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

Benton started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 14-25, 25-21, 25-18, 25-21.

Despite the loss, Benton still got an impressive performance from Madeline Davis, who had five digs and five aces.

Benton's loss dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Cassville, their victory ended a five-match drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-13.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Benton is set to face off against their familiar foe River Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Cassville will challenge rival Potosi at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
