Baseball Recap: Apex Comes Up Short

Apex suffered their closest defeat since February 24, 2025 on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Jordan Falcons by a score of 2-0. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2018.

DANE PURDY was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in April of 2025.

At the plate, Apex saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was CULLEN KLINGEMANN, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Apex's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Jordan, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Falcons beat Apex by a score of 5-2 on Friday.
