Basketball Game Preview: Clarkson/Leigh Patriots vs. Archangels Catholic Defenders

The Clarkson/Leigh Patriots will challenge the Archangels Catholic Defenders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Clarkson/Leigh is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.

Last Saturday, Clarkson/Leigh was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 63-58 to Tekamah-Herman.

Despite their defeat, Clarkson/Leigh saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Tucker Matthies, who posted 17 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. The dominant performance gave Matthies a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle McMullin, who put up 14 points along with six boards and five assists.

Meanwhile, Archangels Catholic ended up a good deal behind Howells-Dodge on Friday and lost 51-34. The Defenders have struggled against the Jaguars recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Archangels Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Clarkson/Leigh, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.

Clarkson/Leigh beat Archangels Catholic 50-43 when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Will Clarkson/Leigh repeat their success, or does Archangels Catholic have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
