La Jolla dropped down to 3-2 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They were beaten by the Point Loma Pointers 37-7. Having soared to a lofty 40 points in the game before, the Vikings couldn't push the score so high this time.

Hudson Smith threw for 133 yards and one TD. Carson Diehl was his top target, picking up 79 receiving yards.

As for Point Loma, their win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.8 points over those games.

Point Loma's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Romeo Carter, who picked up 70 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Carter didn't just play on offense: he also made two total tackles and defended one pass in addition to snagging two interceptions. Braden Lane handled things on the ground, rushing for 80 yards.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. La Jolla is set to square off against their familiar foe Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Point Loma will take on rival San Diego at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Pointers 8.2, the Cavers 3) so any points scored will be well earned.
