Basketball Recap: Michael Palomino's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Glendale over Copper Canyon

Glendale lost a heartbreaker to Copper Canyon when they met back in January of 2024, and they left with a heavy heart again on Thursday. The Glendale Cardinals took a 64-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Copper Canyon Aztecs. The Cardinals have struggled against the Aztecs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Glendale lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Michael Palomino, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted 12 or more boards the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Duran, who went 8-for-17 en route to 23 points.

Even though they lost, Glendale smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in seven consecutive matches.

Glendale's defeat dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Copper Canyon, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season.

As of now, neither Glendale nor Copper Canyon have any future games scheduled.
