Soccer Game Preview: Hammond vs. Northshore

The Hammond Tornadoes will face off against the Northshore Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.

Hammond's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 4-0 margin over Covington. The Tornadoes' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last four contests.

Meanwhile, Northshore faced St. Paul's in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. Northshore came out on top in a nail-biter against St. Paul's, sneaking past 1-0. Give the Panthers' defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Northshore has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-4-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those eight matches. As for Hammond, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-6-5.

Hammond suffered a grim 9-0 defeat to Northshore when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Can Hammond avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
