Basketball Game Preview: Garey Vikings vs. Walnut Mustangs + How To Watch

The Garey Vikings will venture away from home to challenge the Walnut Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Garey has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 214 points over their last three matchups.

Garey is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Pomona: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Vikings blew the Red Devils out of the water with a 69-34 final score. The Vikings pushed the score to 48-21 by the end of the third, a deficit the Red Devils had little chance of recovering from.

Garey got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Anferny Yom out in front who shot 42% from the field on his way to 24 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Esteban Ruvalcaba, who posted 16 points in addition to six assists and six steals.

Garey was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They are a perfect 4-0 when they've passed the ball that well.

Meanwhile, Walnut can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They came out on top against El Segundo by a score of 54-41.

Walnut's record is now 7-5. As for Garey, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Garey took a serious blow against Walnut in their previous meeting back in November of 2018, falling 85-26. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
