Baseball Recap: Acalanes Finds Playoff Glory Versus Campolindo

It's playoff time, and Acalanes had no trouble coming through when it counted. They blew past the Campolindo Cougars 10-0 on Saturday. The Dons not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since March 28th (when they won 13-1).

Branson Smith looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Acalanes: the team is 8-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 7-8-1 otherwise.

At the plate, Keegan Goddard was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Winkles, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

The victory made it two in a row for Acalanes and bumps their season record up to 15-10-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Campolindo, their loss dropped their record down to 15-11.

Coming up, Acalanes will head out on the road to square off against Cardinal Newman at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Dons 2.7, the Cardinals 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. Campolindo does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
