Woodbridge has gone a perfect 10-0 against University recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Warriors are taking a road trip to challenge the Trojans at 3:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Woodbridge put up the most runs they have all season on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Northwood a 10-0 shutout. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Warriors with their most commanding win of the season.
The team relied heavily on Payton Harris, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Seli Yamamoto also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Woodbridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for University, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They put the hurt on Portola with a sharp 13-1 victory on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Carson Cruz made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off eight hits (and not a single walk). Cruz was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Amela Hoang was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. Alexandra McBride was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI.
Woodbridge moved to 6-8-1 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for University, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 8-3.
Everything went Woodbridge's way against University when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Woodbridge made off with a 10-4 win. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
