Basketball Recap: Gulf Pointe Latin Gladiators vs. Santa Rosa Christian
The Gulf Pointe Latin Gladiators's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 68-58 to Santa Rosa Christian. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite the loss, Gulf Pointe Latin still got an impressive performance from Micah Crumpler, who scored 15 points along with five blocks. Dean Fillmore was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Gulf Pointe Latin has not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for Santa Rosa Christian, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-15.
Gulf Pointe Latin won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Lions at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Hopefully Aletheia Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 32 last Friday. As for Santa Rosa Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. East Hill Christian and the are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
