Basketball Game Preview: Waukomis Chiefs vs. Thomas-Fay-Custer Terriers

The Waukomis Chiefs will head out on the road to square off against the Thomas-Fay-Custer Terriers at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

While Waukomis didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against Hinton on Saturday as Waukomis made off with a 65-45 win. The Chiefs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Thomas-Fay-Custer entered their tilt with Okeene on Saturday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They took down the Whippets 56-37. Given the Terriers' advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while the Whippets are ranked 292nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Waukomis' victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Thomas-Fay-Custer, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2.

Waukomis came up short against Thomas-Fay-Custer in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 66-58. Can Waukomis avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
