Basketball Recap: Goldwater Takes a Loss

Goldwater lost against Paradise Honors back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Goldwater Bulldogs took a blow against the Paradise Honors Panthers, falling 84-21. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while the Panthers are ranked 54th).

Morgan Van Dyke continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Paradise Honors, going 12 for 21 en route to 28 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. That's the most assists Van Dyke has posted since back in December of 2024. Lizzy Guincho was another key player, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 steals.

Goldwater dropped their record down to 1-16 with the loss, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Paradise Honors, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 20-4.

Coming up, Goldwater will be playing at home against Moon Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Paradise Honors, they will head out to face off against Greenway at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Greenway will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Paradise Honors surely won't give up without a fight.
