Basketball Preview: Strasburg Indians vs. Y Yuma

Strasburg is on a 11-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while the Yuma are on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Strasburg Indians will take on the Y Yuma at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 11 more assists than your opponent, a fact Strasburg proved on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Liberty Common as Strasburg made off with a 69-46 win. Given Strasburg's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Eagles are ranked 219th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Strasburg's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Austin Velasco, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds, and Tyce Bollers, who scored 24 points along with five steals. Bollers has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last ten times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Landen Martin, who scored three points along with nine assists and two steals.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Y at home against the Tigers on Thursday as the squad secured a 79-48 win. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 49-24.

Strasburg's win bumped their record up to 15-1. As for Y, their win bumped their record up to 13-1.

Strasburg took a serious blow against the Yuma when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 64-29. Will Strasburg have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other basketball content.
