Basketball Recap: Rossview's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Rossview needed a changed in momentum after dropping three straight games and they got it from JiYair Rose. The Rossview Hawks snuck past the Portland Panthers with a 67-62 victory on Tuesday thanks in part to Rose, who almost dropped a double-double on 25 points and nine rebounds. The matchup was his third in a row with at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Piekielko, who posted seven points and five rebounds. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in assists (four).

Portland lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Keilen Dalton, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 15 points and eight rebounds. Dalton has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Nate Honeycutt, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 17 points.

Rossview pushed their record up to 4-11 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Portland, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Rossview didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-51 defeat against Northwest on the 8th. As for Portland, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 68-65 victory against Sycamore on the 9th.
