Petal hadn't done well against Northwest Rankin recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was the Petal Panthers who were credited with the win. The Petal Panthers got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to the Northwest Rankin Cougars' one. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Petal has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 23 goals over those seven matchups. As for Northwest Rankin, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-3-1.
