Softball Game Preview: Las Cruces Bulldawgs vs. Gadsden Panthers

For the second straight game, Las Cruces will face off against Gadsden. The Bulldawgs will head out to square off against the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Las Cruces' pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Gadsden 12-0. Considering the Bulldawgs have won eight contests by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Kaia Renteria made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, Adriana Pena was incredible, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Zaysha Hawkins was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

The victory made it two in a row for Las Cruces and bumps their season record up to 11-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Gadsden, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.
