Softball Recap: Nelson County Cardinals vs. Central Hardin Bruins
Nelson County made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Central Hardin, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Cardinals fell just short of the Bruins by a score of 4-2 on Monday. The Cardinals were not able to make up for their defeat to the Bruins from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.
Aubrey Robbins was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Robbins wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brin Reccius, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Nelson County's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 20-7-1. As for Central Hardin, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 23-13.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nelson County will venture away from home to face off against Barren County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Central Hardin, they will head out to take on Warren East at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
