Basketball Game Preview: Babcock Trailblazers vs. Gulf Coast HEAT

The Babcock Trailblazers will venture away from home to square off against Gulf Coast HEAT at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Babcock will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Babcock's tournament run continued when they took on Sarasota Christian on Saturday. Babcock blew past Sarasota Christian 62-27. The Trailblazers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Babcock to victory, but perhaps none more so than Marianeliz Murillo, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds. Makena Ferry was another key player, putting up 15 points and six boards.

Meanwhile, Gulf Coast HEAT unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Braden River by a score of 30-27.

Babcock has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.8 points per game. As for Gulf Coast HEAT, their loss ended an eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-6.

Babcock didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Gulf Coast HEAT in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 32-27 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Babcock since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
