Basketball Recap: Ty'jerrica Russell's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Early County over Bainbridge

It was a proper cat-fight when Early County took on Bainbridge on Friday. The Early County Bobcats took a 43-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bainbridge Bearcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 59-28 back in November of 2024.

Early County's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ty'Jerrica Russell, who posted six points along with 11 boards and four steals. The dominant performance also gave Russell a new career-high in blocks (four). Ka'Lyiah Ogden was another key player, putting up nine points.

Even though they lost, Early County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Early County has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-9 record this season. As for Bainbridge, the win got them back to even at 12-12.

Early County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bainbridge, they have already played their next contest, a 54-38 victory against Cairo on the 8th.
