Basketball Recap: Thayer Central Has No Trouble Against Superior

Thayer Central won the last time they faced Superior and things went their way on Friday too. The Thayer Central Titans blew past the Superior Wildcats 48-23. That looming 48-23 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Titans yet this season.

Thayer Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Laken Wiedel, who posted 13 points and five rebounds. Those 13 points gave Wiedel a new career-high. Brady Degenhardt was another key player, putting up eight points and 14 boards.

Thayer Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

Dayne Clark and Thomas M. Mathis certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Clark scored 11 points and six rebounds, while M. Mathis had two points and seven boards.

Thayer Central's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Superior, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with the defeat, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.

Thayer Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 48-26 win against Deshler on the 11th. Superior has also already played their next contest, an 80-38 loss against Fillmore Central on the 11th.
