Recap: Jasper Vikings vs. Ramsay Rams
The Jasper Vikings came tearing into Saturday's contest with 11 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Ramsay with points to spare, taking the game 42-27. Given Jasper's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while Ramsay is ranked 105th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jasper found their leader in underclassman Missy Odom, who scored 20 points along with two steals and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Odom posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Hallie Harrell, who scored six points along with eight rebounds.
Jasper has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 17 of their last 18 games, which provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season. As for Ramsay, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-13.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jasper will challenge Hartselle at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hartselle is on a three-game streak of home wins, Jasper a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Ramsay, they will head out on the road to face off against Hayden at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
