Basketball Game Preview: P.K. Yonge Blue Wave vs. West Port Wolf Pack

The P.K. Yonge Blue Wave will head out on the road to challenge the West Port Wolf Pack at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

P.K. Yonge can't be too worried about heading out to take on West Port: they just beat First Christian at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. Everything went P.K. Yonge's way against First Christian on Thursday as P.K. Yonge made off with a 59-36 win. P.K. Yonge's victory was all the more impressive since the Lions were averaging only 29.38 points allowed on the season.

P.K. Yonge's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Matilda Parrish, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards. Those 16 points gave Parrish a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Montinique Williams, who went 6 for 10 en route to 16 points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Meanwhile, West Port earned a 52-44 victory over Forest last Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wolf Pack.

P.K. Yonge better keep an eye on Aaliyah Grant. She was instrumental in West Port's win, dropping a double-double on 31 points and 20 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Calise Smith, who went 6 of 14 on her way to 13 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds.

P.K. Yonge's record now sits at 4-17. As for West Port, their record is now 13-7.

P.K. Yonge strolled past West Port in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 61-43. The rematch might be a little tougher for P.K. Yonge since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
