Basketball Recap: Illinois Lutheran Comes Up Short

Illinois Lutheran was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 42-34 to the Momence Momence Athletics. If the Chargers were looking for revenge after losing 52-33 to them when the teams met back in December of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Illinois Lutheran still got an impressive performance from Alissia Sanchez, who posted 19 points. Sanchez's evening made it eight games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Abigail Gebbia, who scored eight points.

Among those leading the charge was Adyki Gunn, who had 11 points along with eight boards and six steals. Momence is 4-1 when Gunn posts three or more steals, but 6-11 otherwise. Lexie Berns was another key player, putting up ten points.

Illinois Lutheran's record now sits at 2-19. As for Momence, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-12.

Illinois Lutheran has already played their next match, a 56-29 loss against Momence on the 11th. As for Momence, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 50-36 defeat against Clifton Central on the 10th.
