Basketball Recap: Compass Charter Snags Fifth Victory in Last Six Games

Compass Charter had won two straight home games and Kellen Walbuck did his part to make it three on Friday. The Compass Charter Aviators walked away with a 63-53 victory over the Notus Pirates thanks in part to Walbuck, who went 9 of 15 en route to 27 points in addition to eight boards and five steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

Jayden Horn was another key player, putting up ten points. He has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played.

Despite the loss, Notus still got an impressive performance from Luis Vargas, who went 9 for 17 to rack up 24 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Nico Martinez, who posted eight points and five boards.

Compass Charter is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points over those games. As for Notus, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-7 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Compass Charter will welcome Victory Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Victory Charter will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Compass Charter surely won't give up without a fight. As for Notus, they will be playing at home against Gem State Adventist Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Notus is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.6 points per game this season.
