Softball Recap: Centennial Finds Playoff Glory Versus St. Cloud

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Centennial had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the St. Cloud Bulldogs a 1-0 shutout. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Bulldogs back in March, they had to take a 3-0 loss.

Not much got past Makayla Megnauth, who gave up just a hit and racked up eight Ks to keep St. Cloud off the board. Megnauth has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Centennial saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rayne Cohen, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Centennial and bumps their season record up to 10-13. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch. As for St. Cloud, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-11.

Looking ahead, Centennial will face off against Jupiter at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed 1.6 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. St. Cloud does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
