Basketball Recap: Casey-Westfield Victorious

While Casey-Westfield didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-22), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 48-37 win over the Rantoul Eagles on Friday.

Lucy Moore was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 31 points and 11 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Chloe Taylor, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 12 rebounds.

Casey-Westfield was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Despite the loss, Rantoul still got an impressive performance from Josie Roseman, who posted 19 points.

Casey-Westfield's record now sits at 6-1. As for Rantoul, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Looking ahead, Casey-Westfield will square off against Cumberland at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Pirates have been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Rantoul, they will challenge Salt Fork at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
