Softball Game Preview: Cony Rams vs. Oceanside Mariners

The Cony Rams will head out on the road to take on the Oceanside Mariners at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Cony's last matchup with Gardiner could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Tuesday. The Rams lost 11-5 to the Tigers. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

Cony saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brodie Barrows, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Oceanside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against Lawrence, falling 15-0.

Cony now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Oceanside, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Everything went Cony's way against Oceanside in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, as Cony made off with a 13-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
