Preview: Westminster Lions vs. Katella Knights
After two games on the road, Westminster is heading back home. They will take on the Katella Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Westminster has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 422 points over their last six games.
Westminster put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Friday. Everything went their way against Garden Grove as Westminster made off with a 68-47 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Westminster has posted since December 15, 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Westminster to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tyler Nguyen, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Nguyen scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Eric Hoang, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Katella came up short against Segerstrom on Tuesday and fell 50-41. Katella has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Westminster is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season. As for Katella, their loss dropped their record down to 6-14.
Westminster didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Katella when the teams last played on January 5th, but they still walked away with a 64-59 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Katella's Joseph Damian, who scored 20 points along with two steals.
