STEAM Academy at McCluer South Berkeley won the last time they faced University City and things went their way  on Monday too. The Bulldogs blew past the Lions 16-1. Considering the Bulldogs have won four matchups by more than eight  runs this season, Monday's  blowout was nothing new.
 Dylan Merkle made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he  pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Merkle was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring two  runs and  stealing two bases. He has been hot recently, having  posted two or more  stolen bases the last three times he's  played.
 In other batting news,  Namari McKinnie was a standout: he scored three  runs and  stole six bases while  getting on base  in all three of his plate appearances. He is  on a roll when it comes to  stolen bases, as he's  now  snagged  at least one in each of the last four games he's  played.  Nicolis Phillips was another key player,  scoring three  runs and  stealing two bases while  getting on base  in all four of his plate appearances.
STEAM Academy at McCluer South Berkeley is  on a roll lately: they've  won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record  this season. Those  wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for University City, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. STEAM Academy at McCluer South Berkeley will challenge Hazelwood East at 4:15  p.m.  on Tuesday. As for University City, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season  when they go up against McCluer North  at 4:15  p.m.  on Tuesday.
